Injury Blues

I am trying desperately not to get the injury blues. I HATE not being able to do the things I want to, but it's so silly because there are lots of things I can still do. I can't think too much about missing the marathon yet without getting upset yet so I will focus on the things I can do.

I can look forward to open water swimming on Saturday. We swim at Grant Ranch in Littleton.

It's SO much better than swimming in a pool! I love being outside.
It's also great to get practice sighting and get used to cold water.

I can also get in a long ride on Saturday since don't have to save my legs for a full marathon. I think I will try to run the half marathon and quit if my foot starts to hurt too bad.

Do you get the injury blues? If so how do you avoid them?

  1. I'm so sorry to hear about your injury! I hope it heals up quickly so you can get back to your training. I definitely get the injury blues. I try to stay as active as I can doing what I can if I'm injured. It's still hard though.

I hope I can get to the point that I would rather swim in open water than in a pool. I'm doing my first open water swim on Friday and I'm really nervous! I wouldn't say I totally panic in open water, but I'm definitely not very comfortable with it yet.

    1. Thanks Lindsey, I hope you can get more comfortable in open water too! I love swimming in a lake but I will admit the swimming in weeds freaks me out. Have you ever done that? so gross!

    1. Thanks Julie, I am trying to be good but it's difficult, I think I am in the bargaining stage of grief ;)

  4. I'm having it right now! "I HATE not being able to do the things I want to, but it's so silly because there are lots of things I can still do." I think that the most of us are like that ... I really can't wait to get back on the track.
