In past years I have set very specific goals
(will recap 2013 soon) but this year I just don’t have it in my heart to set
out too many specific (SMART) goals for the year but want to start the year
with more intentions.
This year I want to focus on being true to myself, finding
peace and sharing Joy. I have found that I don’t always do what’s best for me
or keep promises that I make to myself. That will change this year, I want to
keep the promises I make to myself (eat better, follow training plan, stop
stressing, etc)
Finding Peace is about relaxing more, I spent a lot of 2013
stressing about one thing or another, and everything still turned out fine. 2014
is starting out with an exciting but stressful event of selling one house and then
hopefully buying a new one. Moving is stressful but I have to believe that it
will all end up ok and I will end up in a home that I love. Time to find some
zen.
Sharing Joy is to help focus on having more fun and sharing it
with people around me. I can be a fairly ambitious, focused person so I can
forget to stop and smell the roses. I want to slow down enough to share some
fun with my family, friends and co-workers.
Being a goal oriented person I still will set some specific
goals maybe monthly, but if at the end of 2014 I have focused on those three intentions
more than I know it will have been a good year.
Are you setting intentions/resolutions for this year?
I love that- setting intentions. I think your intentions sound great, and I love that they're about peace and joy :)
ReplyDeleteI generally don't set goals or resolutions, but i might make a few monthly goals!
Goals are fun, can't wait to see yours!
DeleteI definitely like the idea of "intentions" rather than resolutions. And so many of my "goals" for 2014 started before the new year, so it's hard to see Jan 1st as a beginning but more of a continuation.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your 2014 - love the focus.
How exciting you are doing IMCdA you will LOVE it. I would definitely go back and race it again no question!
DeleteLove this, Beth! I sent intentions last year for the first time and felt they guided my year better and made me more mindful. Just finishing up my 2014 intentions!
ReplyDeleteThanks Erin, can't wait to read yours =)
DeleteSelling and buying a new home? I understand how stressful that is. It’s really overwhelming at first, but once it’s all done, it will be a huge relief on you and your family. Good thing you have a high spirit and a goal-oriented person to handle all the stress you have right now.
